My love of words began at an early age when I found I had a knack for spelling
and writing stories. Originally interested in journalism as a career, I was actively involved in all aspects of my high school and college newspapers and I looked for any opportunity to get my work published. At the age of 15, I wrote my own monthly column in the local community paper.
My love of editing started early too, when I was driven to distraction
with finding errors in menus and signs and pretty much anything I read. Soon, family, friends, and co-workers
were recruiting me to fix and help them write their school papers, reports, articles, etc. I decided then that what I really enjoyed was working behind the scenes.
My career has included experience in the communications and publishing
departments of several non-profit and professional associations, providing
writing, editing, and desktop publishing for newsletters, annual reports, promotional
material, and training manuals. I am also experienced with technical writing, website copy, and writing for non-print media.
I find working with manuscripts and building relationships with writers immeasurably rewarding. With Shamrock Editing, I am pleased to provide my insight
and experience to help writers polish their work and achieve their publishing
goals.
